About Us

For over 50 years, Boise Cooperative Preschool (“BCP”) has been a leading play-based preschool in the Treasure Valley. We “play” with letters and numbers and expand our knowledge of basic concepts. We explore, create, experiment, practice, socialize, and learn to value and respect individuality, while being part of a community. There is an emphasis on the learning process rather than a specific result. We know that learning is fun and the possibilities are endless!
Why a cooperative preschool?
-
A cooperative preschool is more than just a place to learn—it’s a community where families and educators work together to create a rich, supportive environment for young children.
-
At our preschool, parents and caregivers play an active role in the classroom alongside our experienced part-time teachers. Families also help guide the school by serving on committees and on our Board of Directors.
-
By involving parents in both the daily life and leadership of the school, we foster a strong sense of connection and collaboration. This shared involvement helps children feel secure, supported, and ready to thrive as they transition into their early learning years.
-
As a non-profit organization, we are dedicated to centering the needs of each child and their family—while keeping tuition affordable for our community.
BCP is operated mainly through the volunteer efforts of the parents who are its members. Our only paid staff are the teachers. Boise Cooperative Preschool depends on the members running the school by working on committees, serving on the Board of Directors, helping out where help is needed, and generally using their unique talents and energies. In order to keep our operating costs and tuition low, each family is required to become a member of BCP with duties and responsibilities.
