Curriculum & Classroom

300 N Latah St

The Boise Cooperative Preschool is located at 300 N. Latah (in the Trinity Fellowship Church). There are two large rooms for preschool use and a fenced yard with a large play structure (see photos below).

**To tour the BCP facilities and meet the teachers, you must contact the registrar who can schedule the tour with the teachers.**

The rooms are well furnished with an array of equipment and materials organized into a variety of stations, promoting independent exploration and discovery.

    • Painting Easels
    • Paints, crayons, etc.
    • Stickers and child-safe scissors

Equipment and toys are rotated monthly to ensure new discoveries. Each class session has free-play time, group-circle time, snack time, and outdoor time.

Circle Time

In group-circle time, interactive stories, music, and finger plays are presented. Each child is invited to take part. Children take turns sharing during circle time — two children per day. When it is a child’s share day, he or she is invited to bring things, people, or animals of interest to share.

Snack Time

Snacks are provided by the parent helpers, and the children sometimes help in the snack preparation. The children learn to eat together, pour their own beverages, and pass snacks along to their neighbors. Conversation is fostered by the parent helper at each table.

Free Play Time

During free-play time, all of the equipment and materials are available to the children.

Also during free play, the teacher offers an art project. The children are encouraged, but never forced, to participate.

Outdoor Time

Weather permitting, part of each session takes place in the large, fenced play yard that includes a structure for climbing, sliding, swinging on a tire swing, and pretending ! The play yard has a large, shaded sandbox equipped with various sand toys. Tricycles and helmets are available to ride on the paved area of the play yard.

The Library

Our library contains a large selection of age appropriate books and books-on-tape, which are available for check out by parents.

Field Trips and Visitors

The preschool experience is enhanced by field trips (such as trips to the library, the Statehouse, the pumpkin patch) and by special visitors (fire fighters, police officers, doctors, musicians).
